The studio

A studio,
not a single seat.

North Stack is a UK AI studio built for messy data, closed systems and regulated stakes. We bring strategy, delivery, engineering, sector knowledge and clinical insight to one table. The people on it have advised at UK Parliament and the Association of British Insurers, led transformation inside Lloyds and HSBC, and shipped award-winning applied AI.

A studio, not a single seat
[ 01 ] How we're built

Small, senior, and
built to surge.

01

Senior people on the actual work

No pyramid, no juniors learning on your account. The people who scope your operation are the people who build and run it. Backgrounds at Lloyds, HSBC, the Association of British Insurers and UK Parliament sit on the team, not in a sub-contractor.

02

Generalists and specialists at one table

Operations strategy, applied AI engineering, regulated-sector knowledge and clinical human-in-the-loop instinct in the same room. The mix is the point: the hard problems in a regulated operation are never purely technical.

03

A studio that surges, not a body shop

We partner with XY Space, an award-winning technical studio that won a $100k global build competition. A five-person core scales to enterprise-grade delivery for a build, then scales back down. You pay for the work, not the bench.

04

We say no in writing

Our audit will tell you which workflows not to automate. Telling you not to build is a successful engagement. It's why you can trust us when we say a build will pay back.

[ 02 ] The bench

The people who’ll still behere when it goes live.

Five disciplines, one table. We don’t sell with seniors and deliver with juniors, and we don’t hand a regulated build to a single pair of hands. The two co-founders carry the engagement; three senior specialists resource the axes that usually go unstaffed.

Lewis Leach

Lewis Leach

Co-Founder · Commercial & Regulatory Counsel

EX-UK PARLIAMENT · REGULATORY-RISK COUNSEL

Owns on an engagementSets the red lines and the “do not automate” list; reads the operation for exposure as much as opportunity.

Lewis spent a decade where the corporate world meets politics. He advised some of the world’s largest companies on reputation, growth and regulatory risk. Up close, he saw the structural advantage large organisations bring to deploying technology and handling regulation. He co-founded North Stack to put that same discipline within reach of the businesses that need it most and can least afford to get it wrong.

On an engagement, Lewis asks the questions a board and a regulator will ask, before they’re asked. He reads the operation for exposure as much as for opportunity: what’s worth doing, what protects you, and the workflows we should decline in writing. When the studio says a line never moves, it’s usually Lewis who drew it.

In a regulated business the regulator is always in the room. We just build as if they’re already sitting there.

Matthew Place

Matthew Place

Co-Founder · Transformation & Delivery

EX-LLOYDS & HSBC · OWNS TECHNICAL DELIVERY

Owns on an engagementOwns technical delivery end to end, from the scope that’s promised to the system that’s live and paying back.

Matthew led complex change programmes inside Lloyds and HSBC, redesigning tangled workflows, modernising legacy systems and embedding change at scale without taking the core operation offline. He’s worked inside some of the most process-intensive organisations in the country, and he co-founded North Stack to translate that rigour into systems a smaller business can realistically run and sustain.

He owns technical delivery end to end. The discipline that scopes your operation is the discipline Matthew keeps on the work until it’s live, resilient and measurably paying back. He’s allergic to the kind of “transformation” that produces a deck and a dependency.

Enterprise-grade doesn’t mean enterprise-sized. The job is making rigour something an SME can actually run.

Myles Langstone

Myles Langstone

Chief Strategy Officer · Sector & Stakeholder Lead

EX-ABI · INSURANCE & FINANCIAL-SERVICES STRATEGY

Myles has built a career across politics, insurance and financial services, turning complexity into something senior people can act on. That included a stint as a senior adviser at the Association of British Insurers. He carries the sector context that keeps a build grounded in how insurance and financial-services operations actually work, plus the discipline of briefing executives who measure their attention in minutes. On an engagement he leads stakeholder strategy and makes sure the external story lines up with what we’re building, whether the audience is a board, a regulator or a market.

Most senior people don’t need more AI. They need someone to translate it into a decision they can defend.

Cho Yin Yong

Cho Yin Yong

Technical Advisor · Applied-AI Engineering (XY Space)

2 AI PATENTS · U OF TORONTO · $100K BUILD WINNER

Cho is the studio’s applied-AI engineering edge. He holds two patents in practical AI and has won multiple competitive AI awards, including a $100,000 global build competition. He is the youngest sessional lecturer ever promoted in the Department of Computer & Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto. His build capability runs through XY Space, the award-winning partner studio that gives North Stack senior delivery capacity the moment a build needs more hands.

He’s the answer to the obvious question: how does a five-person studio ship enterprise-grade software? The surge model is the trick. North Stack scopes and governs, then Cho’s XY Space team turns a scored workflow into governed, working systems on demand. You get the focus of a small studio with the throughput of a much larger one, and you never pay for a bench sitting idle between projects.

A model that’s right 95% of the time is a 5% liability until you build the part that catches the 5%.

Dr Kasra Milani

Dr Kasra Milani

Health Tech Specialist · Clinical & High-Stakes Practice

MD · 8 YRS CLINICAL · HEALTHCARE-DATA GOVERNANCE

Kasra is a qualified doctor with over eight years of frontline clinical experience, and he’s contributed to MedTech work on AI-assisted healthcare data analysis and clinical decision support. He brings the practitioner’s understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare data that keeps our healthcare-admin work grounded in real practice rather than a flowchart.

He sits on a regulated-ops bench for a reason that has nothing to do with healthcare alone. The clinical instinct is the same instinct that governs every build we ship: a high-stakes decision keeps a human in the loop, you design for the failure mode, you never let the tool make the final call. Kasra is the living proof that “human-in-the-loop” is a reflex here, not a slogan. It’s a doctor’s caution, turned into governance.

In medicine you never let the tool make the final call. That instinct is exactly what regulated AI needs.
