The studio

A studio,
not a single seat.

North Stack is a UK AI studio built for messy data, closed systems and regulated stakes. We bring strategy, delivery, engineering, sector knowledge and clinical insight to one table. The people on it have advised at UK Parliament and the Association of British Insurers, led transformation inside Lloyds and HSBC, and shipped award-winning applied AI.

[ 01 ] How we're built

Small, senior, and
built to surge.

01

Senior people on the actual work

No pyramid, no juniors learning on your account. The people who scope your operation are the people who build and run it. Backgrounds at Lloyds, HSBC, the Association of British Insurers and UK Parliament sit on the team, not in a sub-contractor.

02

Generalists and specialists at one table

Operations strategy, applied AI engineering, regulated-sector knowledge and clinical human-in-the-loop instinct in the same room. The mix is the point: the hard problems in a regulated operation are never purely technical.

03

A studio that surges, not a body shop

We partner with an award-winning technical studio. A five-person core scales to enterprise-grade delivery for a build, then scales back down. You pay for the work, not the bench.

04

We say no in writing

Our audit will tell you which workflows not to automate. Telling you not to build is a successful engagement. It's why you can trust us when we say a build will pay back.

Before you automate anything

Most firms have bought ChatGPT. Far fewer can say who is accountable for how it gets used.

That is where we start. Before a single workflow is automated, we help you understand the regulatory layer you are already inside: which rules apply to you, where the data that evidences them actually comes from, and who owns the answer when someone asks.

It is unglamorous work, and it is the part that decides whether anything built afterwards can be trusted near a regulated operation. The bench below is assembled to do it first and build second.

[ 02 ] The bench

Every side of a regulatedoperation, on the team.

The transformation programmes inside the banks, the policy and regulatory world, the insurance industry itself, and serious technical delivery. Regulated and operational experience sits on the team, not in a subcontractor.

Lewis Leach

Co-founder, Strategy & Regulatory

Lewis has spent a decade helping organisations navigate government, regulation and highly scrutinised industries. He advises boards on deploying AI in environments where governance, public trust and regulatory scrutiny matter as much as technical capability.

Matthew Place

Matthew Place

Co-founder, Delivery & Operations

Matthew led transformation programmes inside two of Britain's largest regulated financial institutions, Lloyds and HSBC — first-hand experience of the legacy systems, governance and operational complexity North Stack now automates.

Myles Langstone

Myles Langstone

Insurance Lead

Myles spent years at the heart of the insurance industry as a senior advisor at the Association of British Insurers. He knows where the cost, risk and regulatory pressure sit inside a broker or insurer's operation, and how to build AI the sector will actually trust.

04
Cho Yin Yong

Cho Yin Yong

Technical Architecture Lead

Cho designs the architecture behind North Stack's deployments: systems built to be robust, secure and safe to run near a regulated operation. A computer science lecturer at the University of Toronto, his work in machine learning gives the team genuine technical depth.

05
Mahmoud Halat

Mahmoud Halat

Solution Architecture Lead

Mahmoud designs the systems behind North Stack's AI deployments, translating operational problems into production-ready software. His work spans workflow automation, AI integration and modern application architecture, and he won Lovable Shipped 2025, a $100,000 global build competition, for technical product delivery.
